Award-winning childcare: happy, healthy, safe

You care about finding professional, high-quality childcare for your child. Both Birmingham Day Nurseries have been recognised many times for our commitment to children’s wellbeing, so you can have complete confidence in the care we give.

Millie’s Mark

England’s gold standard in paediatric healthcare. Millie’s Mark means every single member of staff (including administrative and kitchen staff) have Paediatric First Aid training – giving them the skills and confidence to keep children safe, minimise risk and accidents, and respond quickly and effectively in emergencies.

Both nurseries were awarded the mark in 2017.

Startwell Level 3

Birmingham’s own programme to support healthy eating and physical activity. Linked to the NHS, Startwell brings parents and professionals together to help your child grow up in a healthy environment. Staff undertake intensive training in physical development and healthy eating, to help them plan activities in and outside the nursery environment, and run workshops to share their knowledge and encourage all adults to act as healthy role models.

Both nurseries were awarded level 3 of Startwell, the highest qualification level, in 2017.

NDNA Awards

The National Day Nurseries Association is the Early Years’ nationwide charity, providing support and training to nurseries across the UK.

Best Use of Technology Award 2016 – The Elms, highly commended, for our innovative use of iConnect to share photos and video safely online with parents.

Healthy Nursery of the Year 2016 – The Oaks, runner up, for our oral hygiene project during National Smile Month and grow-your-own-veg classes.

“We find the staff to be a golden asset at the nursery as they care deeply for the children and are instrumental in their growth and development.” – Hera

These awards join The Elms Day Nursery’s Good OFSTED rating and The Oaks Day Nursery’s Outstanding OFSTED rating as more evidence of how hard we try to be the best we can be.

Sun Safe Nurseries

Developed by the National Skin Cancer Charity Skcin, this award helps children learn positive sun-safe messages in their early years. Skcin believes that education from a young age is essential to skin cancer prevention.

The award ensures that children and parents receive appropriate sun safety advice, and confirms that nurseries are committed to keeping children protected during the hours they are in nursery care.

Both nurseries received the Sun Safe Nurseries award in 2018.
